Guidelines for VIATA’s

Train Your Dog (Pet) Month 2013

‘Leave it Challenge’

Positive reinforcement training methods must be used
to train and generalize the leave it.

Creativity is encouraged but dog or handler must not be at risk at any time. Entries showing undue risk for themselves or their dogs will be disqualified. 

There is no cost to enter.

This contest is open only to Vancouver Island & Gulf Island residents
and pet-related businesses.

There are two categories: 

*Professional (for animal trainers and businesses)

*Public (for everyone else)

You can enter as many times as you like as long as the dog is doing leave it in a different locations or for different situations each time.

To submit entry, contestant must submit their photo (max 2MB) or video (max 15MB) to viataleaveit@gmail.com and note in the subject line “Leave it Challenge: Last name, dog's name (s), location and business name.” Videos may also be submitted via a link from www.youtube.com .

All entries must include your contact information: name, e-mail address, phone number, community and category.

The deadline for entry is Jan 31, 2013 by 12 midnight PST.

All entries will be posted on the VIATA website.

Entry in the challenge constitutes your permission for VIATA to use your entry, name and information for promotional and/or publication purposes on the Web site and in other media. All entries become the property of VIATA and may be used for future promotional purposes.

Winners will be notified by e-mail by February 14, 2013. A list of entries will be posted on www.viata.ca, www.viatassoc.blogspot.com, and the Vancouver Island Animal Training Association Facebook page.

By entering the challenge, entrants agree that the VIATA and its executive, directors or membership shall have no liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from participation in the challenge contest. By entering, all entrants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the VIATA which are final.
